Good evening, all. Sometimes, I don't like a quiet weather pattern that lasts for more than a week. However, I LOVE the warmer temperatures that'll be heading our way well into next week. Have a look at what the Climate Prediction Center has in store heading towards February 21st...
The eastern 2/3rds of the United States will have temperatures at or well above normal, including most of the state of Missouri. I'm seeing temperatures still in the 50s as we start the new week in a few days with 60s coming in the middle of next week. There may be a few chances for rain as the 60s come in, but they do not look like they'll bring a complete washout to Wednesday or Thursday.
What else happened this week? I finally found a chance to give Bonnie, my car, a bath after being covered with ice, snow and salt over the past two weeks. There's still a little bit of salt film at the bottom of the rocker panels, but she's finally clean!! Also, I'm still on the job hunt and waiting to hear back from other stations I've sent applications to. I've sent my resume and DVD to TV stations in Springfield, MO, El Paso, TX, Green Bay, WI, Lexington, KY, Waco, TX, Davenport, IA, Rock Island, IL, and Oklahoma City to name a few.
All one can do is be patient in a job market like this, but I am excited about applying to these places. The station in Springfield is the only TV station to have severe weather coverage streaming online in addition to on the air, which is really cool! Furthermore, a lot of interesting weather takes place around southwestern Missouri and I would have friends and family close by. Davenport and Rock Island are not too far from home and I've always heard that the Quad Cities are really beautiful. With the cities just hours from Chicago, St. Louis, Madison and other metro areas, it seems that one can hardly run out of things to do. It would be amazing if I get the chance to work in Oklahoma City, right in the heart of Tornado Alley and where snow isn't a stranger to Oklahoma either. For now, I'm thankful that I still work at KOMU in Columbia, MO even if it doesn't pay anything and I go to Columbia on my own dime every time I get the chance to fill in for someone. Those are the only few negatives, though, since I've been working at KOMU since October of 2008 and I love going there each and every time. With all of that said, I'm still excited with what lies ahead in the future!
There has been one downer, though. One of my favorite shows on Food Network got canceled after being on the air for almost 5 years and 10 seasons...
When I first heard the news a few months ago, I kept asking, "Why, Food Network? Why?" The people at Charm City Cakes in Baltimore all reminded me of friends from high school and college, and it was pretty cool that they got to make really impressive cakes for some big events and big clients. At first, I thought it was ratings that got them canceled, but it was actually mutual since Duff wanted to open a shop over in Los Angeles so he could open his services up to more clients. It actually makes pretty good sense if you think about it. Of course I'll live, but it was a pretty great show. Now, it's off to Amazon to see if I can get the whole series or some of the seasons on DVD. Have a good night, folks!

Snow Update
Good evening, folks. Meteorologist Nick Kelly at your service once again providing a quick update on the weather ahead this week.
As of this blog post, snow is falling in most parts of Missouri with the exception of the St. Louis Area. The St. Louis Area is still seeing a lot of dry air that's keeping the snow off to the west and southwest in Columbia and Springfield. Eventually, the metro area will see the skies moisten up a little bit and some flurries will come in during the day on Wednesday. Same story applies for Columbia, but Springfield and the Ozarks have plenty of moisture and areas of heavy snow that will bring some accumulation.
KSPR seems to have a really good handle on the snow accumulations that the next storm system will bring. Along and northeast of a line from Warsaw going through Camdenton, Lebanon, Houston and Eminence, snow will stay light enough to warrant just up to 1" of snow. Areas between Lebanon and Monett (including Springfield) will see between 2 - 4" of snow. From Monet and Joplin southwest, snow will total up to 6 inches and they go up significantly as you head into central Oklahoma.
There is light at the end of this tunnel, though. Look at what happens on Saturday around noon. Thanks to high pressure in southeastern Texas bringing in southwesterly winds, temperatures will warm up into the upper 30s and lower 40s in Missouri. Looking ahead into next week, highs in the 50s are not only likely, they are more than welcome to pay a visit to Missouri to help melt the snow and give us a little reminder that Spring is on the way.
That's a look at what's ahead this week. Some folks will see some snow overnight and into Wednesday, but it will not be anywhere near as bad as it was last week. After we get through Thursday, look for temperatures to finally warm up as we head into next week! Have a good night, everyone.

Some Tweaks and A Special Page
Good morning, folks. Sorry for not posting anything as of late. I was a bit busy at Schnucks helping customers get ready for the 45th Super Bowl that has already come and gone with the Green Bay Packers emerging victorious. I was able to add a Facebook badge and a Twitter widget so you could see any new tweets that come from me and give you the option to add me as a Facebook friend or follow me on Twitter. I am looking forward to this week in terms of weather. Some chances for snow are in the cards but I love what's coming for St. Louis and the state of Missouri this weekend. I'll have a post on that later today. Also, I added a new page at the top so I could talk about one of the biggest inspirations in my life. Some of you may recognize him...
